Dog Team Presentation
One of our most uniquely Alaskan activities is the dog team presentation.
A talk about dog mushing in Alaska is given followed by the running of a team.
There is no snow in summer to run a sled on, so the team is run with an ATV, which
is a common way to train dogs in the summer. |

Wildlife
Viewing
During your travel to and from the Kantishna Roadhouse you'll have
fabulous opportunities to see most of the Park's wildlife up close.
Bring your binoculars, and photographers be warned; you'd better have
your favorite camera ready! |

Mountain Biking
If mountain biking is on the top of your list as a favorite outdoor activity, rev up the pedals
of one of our mountain bikes and spend some time exploring the countryside. Pedal to Wonder Lake
or investigate the old mining roads in the area. Ask a guide to assist you with a bike selection
and please wear the required helmet for your protection. Fanny packs with water bottles are also available. |

Hiking
Join us on our popular daily walking excursions. Guided hikes leave the Roadhouse daily and last
for two to six hours. The Roadhouse structures our guided hikes as to offer many opportunities to
see the area for beginners, intermediate and advanced trekkers. Hiking is an excellent opportunity
to explore and learn about the wildlife and flora of the Kantishna Hills from one of our experienced
Naturalist Guides. |

Fly
Fishing
Try your hand at fly fishing for Arctic Grayling in nearby Moose Creek.
Both fly and spinning rods are available. A selection of tackle is
available for purchase at the front desk. Alaska fishing licenses can
be purchased at the lodge. Our visitors can opt to have a guide teach
you the basics, and they may even be able to accompany you while you
fish if schedules allow. |

Gold
Panning
For those with a twinkle in their eye, slip on a pair of rubber boots,
grab a pan and head for the creek. Learn the history and methods of the
old-time prospectors and try your hand at panning for a little "color".
Any gold you find is yours to keep! This is a fantastic activity for
photo and video enthusiasts also. |

Flightseeing
There is no closer access to Mt McKinley than from Kantishna.
Throughout the summer season, you will find yourself an easy 5 minute
jaunt to the Kantishna air strip. Flightseeing tours depart multiple
times daily giving you ample opportunities to see the mountain and the
Alaskan Range up close. Flightseeing tours can be booked through the
Roadhouse activity desk. |

|
| Roadhouse patrons are
free to enjoy the grounds as they see fit. Summer provides long days to
enjoy and take part in any or all of these activities while still
leaving plenty of time to relax and just soak up the area's beauty
and tranquility. Each day we offer activities that can be educational as well as fun for all ages. Each evening after dinner, our guide staff
will help you plan your activities for the following day. If you want to
plan your own excursion, ask a guide for maps and assistance –
they are always happy to assist. With the exception of Mt. McKinley
flightseeing, all of the necessary equipment for activities is provided
to our guests at no extra charge. |
