Transportation
Your
adventure begins when you board our bus for the journey through
Denali National Park and into Kantishna. There are only two ways
for park visitors to get to Kantishna – by one of our park
busses or via small aircraft.
The Denali Train Depot is our pick up point at 12:30 pm. Look for our red and white bus at the far end ( south) of the Denali Train Depot and check in with our expediter or driver.
Schedule:
1:30 PM Depart Denali Park Depot ( Please be there with your luggage no later than 12:45 pm to check in)
7:45 PM Arrive Kantishna Roadhouse
6:20 AM Depart Kantishna Roadhouse **
11:30 AM Arrive Denali Park Depot
** The departure day schedule is timed to connect with rail service and may change if the rail schedule changes.
IMPORTANT: Guests are limited to one (1) piece of checked baggage and one small carry-on that will fit overhead or at your feet. Excess baggage will be charged at $50.00 per piece with no exceptions.
Getting to and from Denali National Park from Anchorage or Fairbanks:
Alaska Railroad
Daily departures from Anchorage and Fairbanks. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling (800) 544-0552.
Arriving from Fairbanks
The incoming train to Denali from Fairbanks arrives at 12:00 PM, therefore you can make an easy connection with our bus on the day of your reservation.
Arriving
from Anchorage
The incoming train to Denali from Anchorage arrives at 3:45 PM. If arriving via train from Anchorage, you will need to make a reservation to overnight near the park entrance and connect with our bus at 12:30 PM at the Rail Station the following day (the day of your reservation.) We recommend staying at Denali River Cabins and we will be happy to book your room for you.
Private/Rental
Car
It is wise to plan 6 hours for a leisurely drive from Anchorage
to the park entrance and 3 hours driving time from Fairbanks.
IMPORTANT: Private vehicles must be parked at the Riley Creek parking lot. Private vehicles are NOT allowed to park at Denali Park Rail Station and will be towed at your expense if left there.
Plan to arrive at the Park entrance in time to park your car at the Riley Creek parking lot and take a shuttle bus to the Denali Park Rail Station to meet the Kantishna Roadhouse bus by no later than 12:45 PM to check in with your baggage. The free shuttle buses leave the Riley Creek parking lot on the hour and half-hour. Or if you prefer, it is approximately a 20 minute walk from the Riley Creek parking area to the Rail Station. There are no rental car drop-off facilities at the park.

Passenger van services from Anchorage and Fairbanks are available.
