Our Ideal Candidates

Every role at Kantishna Roadhouse is important to creating an exceptional guest experience. We value integrity, a strong work ethic, adaptability and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.

The most successful members of our team are willing to step in wherever needed, embrace challenges and bring a positive attitude to work each day. Life and work in a remote wilderness lodge require flexibility, teamwork and an adventurous spirit.

Kantishna Roadhouse provides a unique and rewarding work experience, but seasonal lodge work can also be physically demanding. Employees should be prepared for long days and a fast-paced environment, particularly during opening and closing portions of the season. Because of our remote location, every team member must be adaptable and willing to assist outside of their primary role when necessary.

With the reopening of the Denali Park Road in 2027, Kantishna will once again be accessible by road. However, we remain 90 miles inside Denali National Park, and employees should come prepared to live and work in a remote environment throughout the summer season.

Positions We Hire For

Hospitality Staff: Our hospitality team plays an essential role in creating warm, welcoming and memorable experiences for every guest. Team members should enjoy working with people, be willing to help wherever needed and share our passion for Alaskan hospitality.

Culinary Team: Our culinary team creates memorable dining experiences for guests in one of Alaska’s most unique settings. From hearty breakfasts and satisfying lunches to thoughtfully prepared dinners and fresh-baked treats, the team works together to provide delicious meals throughout each guest’s stay. Culinary employees should thrive in a team environment and be prepared for the unique challenges and rewards of operating a kitchen in a remote location.

Maintenance Crew: Our maintenance crew keeps Kantishna Roadhouse safe, functional and beautiful throughout the season. Responsibilities may include repairs, landscaping, upkeep of cabins and lodge facilities, equipment maintenance and general property projects. Strong problem-solving skills, initiative and a willingness to tackle a variety of tasks are essential.

Guides and Naturalists: Our guides and naturalists are passionate outdoor enthusiasts and educators who help guests develop a deeper connection with Denali. They lead guided hikes, nature walks and educational programs while sharing their knowledge of the area’s wildlife, plants, ecosystems, history and culture. Guides should be comfortable outdoors, enthusiastic about working with guests and passionate about creating safe, engaging and meaningful wilderness experiences.

Getting Here

Our point of hire is Fairbanks, Alaska. Employees are responsible for arranging their own travel to Fairbanks at the beginning of the season.

By Car

Driving to Alaska is an adventure in itself and a great option for employees who have the time to enjoy one of the most beautiful road trips in North America.

We recommend arriving in Fairbanks a few days before your scheduled start date when possible. This gives you time to purchase personal items and complete any last-minute shopping before heading into Kantishna.
