The Kantishna Experience
For over 30 years, Alaska Native owned & operated, Kantishna Roadhouse has offered our guests a unique opportunity to experience the backcountry of Denali National Park in a comfortable and intimate setting. With just a handful of other guests, immerse yourself in all that our remote setting has to offer – peace and quiet, the natural beauty of the flora and fauna, and time to relax and reflect away from the frantic pace of modern life.
A Unique Opportunity
Your journey begins with a true bush Alaska experience as you board a 206 Cessna aircraft with no more than four other guests for a 55 minute flight from Denali Air to Kantishna Airport. You’ll have the chance to see Mt. Denali and the Alaska Range up close as you soar over the vast wilderness of Denali National Park.
Comfortable Log Cabins
Upon arrival to Kantishna Roadhouse, you’ll be shown to your private and spacious log cabin accommodations – nicely appointed with rustic style. With private bathrooms and comfortable beds with cozy down comforters and quilts – you’ll find your cabin to be the perfect place to start and end your day. We have two fully accessible cabins outfitted with ramps, accessible showers and a large floor plan – making them perfect for guests with limited mobility.
All Meals Included
All of our meals are prepared fresh on site daily. Due to our smaller guest size, our Chef is able to accommodate custom requests and special dietary needs. Some of our produce is grown on property and we bake bread and other fresh treats daily. We often feature wild salmon, halibut and cod sustainably sourced from Alaskan waters. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available daily, along with easy access to fresh hot coffee and tea throughout the day and evening. We feature complimentary Alaskan beer and wine, as well as other “top shelf” spirits available for purchase.
Enjoy Guided Activities
Our unique property and the surrounding wilderness offer something for everyone. Each night you can confer with our experienced Naturalist Guides to decide how you want to spend the following day. Customize your experience with a variety of hikes, mountain biking, nature walks, fishing and panning for gold. Take a shuttle to Wonder Lake for one of the most popular experiences of natural beauty in the Park. Our naturalists present on various topics each evening, giving fascinating information about Kantishna, Denali and the surrounding area.
Explore The Property
The original Roadhouse at Kantishna was built in 1918, and served as a private residence, a community center, post office and informal hotel accommodations. Many nights were spent spinning tales of the Alaskan trail over a hot cup of coffee and a hearty meal. You can still see the “original” Roadhouse and other remnants of the past around our property. Today, we continue the talks of the trail, but in a more modern and comfortable way. Through years of hard work, our Kantishna Roadhouse evolved from a gold miner’s tent camp into a modern Alaskan vacation resort.
